Born in Kolkata in 1966.
Partha Dasgupta’s creative mind travels easily from paintings to sculptures in ceramic and vice versa with poetic sensibility. He did his BVA. from Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata and MFA from Kala Bhavan, Visva-Bharati University and U G C Net Lecturership. He got Birla Academy Award twice – in 2000 for Best Drawing and in 2008 for Best Painting. He taught at the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, Sriniketan, Visva Bharati University, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Centre for Archaeological Studies and Training, Eastern India. He had one solo show (in Kolkata) so far and participated in several group shows including Visual Rhapsody curated by Debasish Chanda in Kolkata, New Delhi and Hong Kong in 2008, Endangered Earth, curated by Sandip Sarkar in Kolkata in 2008, Painting Show in Bahrain in 2007, Painting Show organized by Bridget Fraser in London in 2007, Show at CIMA, Kolkata in 2000. Also attended several camps and workshops in India and Bahrain. Partha’s creations enrich the collections of Bahrain Fine Arts Society, U P State Lalit Kala Akademi, Birla Academy and other private and public collections in India and abroad. Member of the Society of Contemporary Artists since 2008, he lives and works in Kolkata.
